Abstract:
One milestone in the beginning stage of representation theory is Schur's 1901 thesis, which focuses on polynomial representations of the general linear groups. Schur later exhibits a double centralizer property (now known as the Schur-Weyl duality) that serves as a bridge between the representation theory of infinite-dimensional algebras and that of finite-dimensional algebras. A hundred years later, people continue to explore and build upon Schur's ideas. In this talk, I will be focusing on certain modern versions of the Schur-Weyl duality, as well as related open problems.
