Creating zeros in linear algebra and its applications
李勇達教授輔仁大學 下午 3:30–5:00 鴻經館 107 室Abstract:
It is an important technique to introduce zeros in the desired entries of a matrix by performing nonsingular transformations. Two well known examples are Gaussian eliminations and orthogonal diagonalization of symmetric matrices. In this talk, we present two research problems solved by two types of creating zeros. One is a numerical algorithm to triangularize a quadratic matrix polynomial. The other is to precondition the advective operator.
