Inner functions, outer functions and more in the Dirichlet space

The famous inner-outer factorization plays a fundamental role in the theory of the Hardy space. The same factorization holds for the Dirichlet space but its role in the Dirichlet space is more subtle and not well understood. We will discuss its application, in particular, its relevance to the zero set problem and the cyclic vector problem.
