The method applies to all strictly hyperbolic and Schroedinger equations subject to highly oscillatory initial data. We are particularly concerned with the accuracy of the developed method in terms of the wavelength, the optimal error estimates in the appropriate norm are obtained. These results are valid for any number of spatial dimensions and are unaffected by the presence of caustics. This talk will conclude with several remaining challenges associated with applications.
This talk is based on recent works joint with J. Ralston (UCLA), and with N.
